Touch decision indeed...

IF I had to choose one between the two, I would go for 5980. For a thousand and one reasons.

But what made me reply to this post was seeing the AWESOME shots of the watches by El Maestro, Harry. Is it just me or do the first two shots seem to resemble Japanese anime/robots? Lovely lovely shots of nice pieces from Patek. Thanks to the gentleman who owns these two pieces, more so to SJX for sharing them with us and of course, to Harry for another great set of shots. Simply AWESOME. smile

Same but different...

Both of these are chronographs yet they are as different as can be. The Nautilus feels very good on the wrist, big and hefty, unlike any other Patek I can think of. In contrast the 5070 feels elegant; it is hardly a slim or small watch yet it doesn't feel...

Though decision, SJX

They are radically different! I had the chance to see and try a Nautilus 5980, and what I saw in vivo was far best than in pic. You're totally right when you say that it's a very comforrtable watch to wear... And the colors of the dial, the depth, hte lig...

thought to the Nautilus line until my AD one day insistently suggested that i try the 5980 and 5712. My God, they sit so nicely on the wrist and looked incredibly great. The dials are clear and radiant and you just can't help yourself. Unfortunately the 5...

The 5070

I have a friend who owns the 5070 with black dial, and he wears it regularly. One drawback of the watch is that the wide polished bezel picks up hairline scratches very easily, especially from cuffs and cuff links. I would think the 5980 won't have that p...

I had the 5070, 5980 and the 47120 (VC) I kept the 5980 and the Vacheron 47120! The Nautilmus Chrono Ref. 5980 is to me the best sport watch I ever owned! Perfectly designed and executed as well wearing so comfortably. In hands it feels like a jewel. Then...

Having them at one shoot was wonderful as it was a rare treat to photogaph these two highly sought after Pateks as it allowed me the opportunity to compare them in real life and to physically enjoy handling them. Both has its draw but being a traditionali...
