Thought: 5168G is patek's new "calatrava "(sports watches are apparently still king, and at this price point Patek will get to keep much more of the profits.)
1. It fits the long term commitment to not overproduce steel,
2. Based on many forum reads it seems like people are primarily interest in patek sports.
3. You start with the white gold aquanaut and get to work your way up.
I'm a little bummed there isn't more demand for pre 1970s era inspired pieces.

I don't think those will be the new "Calatravas". On the long term classical watches will remain while sports watches will fall.
Currently there is so much money around and people don't know how to spend it so they just buy fancy things with it. The watch hype is artificial.

however the current generation of buyer in usually drawn to a more sporty style. fewer wear suits for daily work and more want to show a more relaxed approach to life. it is a lifestyle accessory after all, we no longer rely on timepieces to tell time as ...

Titanium watches are even more rare than stainless steel for Patek
It's like the metals are flipped on their head compared to other manufactures. Precious metals are common while steel and Ti are super rare. They could make a Ti version for the annual One Watch auction though.

It's still too big in my eyes. Should revert to the 38 39mm size like a 5165a.

Thanks for sharing, nice but very similar to the 5167 LE they made a few years ago (metal and size aside, of course)... Also, why the $1,130 price delta with its blue brother?
Except for this, why not, it's a very simple but rather bold addition to the collection, and I'm sure lots of people will like it ;-)

Agree, and they are definitely quite good at keeping prices on a rising trajectory...but then they could have just raised the blue version by an extra $1130 and nobody would have noticed..
Unless it’s somehow more challenging to produce the green than the blue, the price delta looks a bit strange for the exact same model..😎

It most likely will the blue be updated... most likely they have yet to update details on previous items...
