What's also striking is how each picture describes the dial very differently, depending on the angle....The first one could as well be that of a future 5740/1R version! ;-)) Thanks again for sharing this beauty and your detailed thoughts about it ;-)

Not for me though. I'm a low-key kind of guy, so the G is perfect for me.

I had the opportunity to try it on during a Patek event when this ref. was launched 😉

But my love for my 5712 is quite strong, and there's no room in my collection for both. ...  

I almost bought a 5712G back in about 2010, when such things were entirely possible.

Sometimes I'm not sure if I prefer it over the 1A.

So ended up buying neither at that time. Now, the 5740 is the perfect match for me. Have a great Sunday!

I almost bought a 5712G some years ago. I‘d have pulled the trigger if they’d made a blue dial version. I love the dial, the complication and above all the elegant, slim case proportions of the 5712. Luckily I find all this again in the 5740 as well, with... 

Of the 5740 is the thinness of the PC and the location of the pushers integrated in the lugs...
