Temptation....and some dilema ahead......
Of all the PPs in my collection I found out that I'm wearing the 5496P Perpetual Calendar the least. The older I get, the more my eyesight goes down the hill, ....the more I'm drawn to watches that are more simple and have less complications.
If I pick up a complicated watch to wear, I find myself often not even bothering setting anything else besides the time... which is kind of sad.... but also perhaps a sign to stick with watches that are more simple.
Was just presented an oportunity to purchase this beautiful 5070R this weekend.....but if that happens, 5496P will have to go.
Tough decision:
- Grand complication of an automatic Platinum Perpetual calendar with vs. Manual wind Chrono.
As much as it doesn't make sense logically, emotionally I'm simply more drawn to the 5070r as generally I find it to be *more beautiful watcb* ......and I think that's the bottom line.

I have always been a sucker for perpetual calendar complication but…

Both are absolutely beautiful watches.
But I understand. I think 5070 is an amazing reference. Just wish my wrist was larger to pull it off.
Luv my 5050, so easy to set them, nothing like 3940. It's quicker than the quickset dates of other makes. LoL
It's super legible, every time I wear mine, I luv to set the calendar, it's a breeze and a joy. Luv my simple calatravas too, I have best of both complications (or none of it) from the same brand. Can't ask for more. Mech
Both are such wonderful timepieces: it all comes down to what you feel and prefer.

Your 5496P has a very clean and balanced dial with apertures, and the information
in the apertures is becoming more difficult to read. Emotions vs logic: you decide and please let us know your decision Personally I would do it especially if 5496P does not get enough love
