Spring mechanisms should be identical, but I see your point....what if the quick release got moved a little....hmmm, I did not think of that.
Therefore, quality should be very important. I did not want to skim on these parts so I bought them from a place recommended by our friend "Enjoythemusic" and they are $6 USD each pair, hope they last.

It’s quite traditional in person and I think dressing it up makes it better. The more colorful or casual the better IMO. Maybe a felt strap for winter?

This is a perfect dial to match any strap. I suggest you buy different quick release straps. So you get a watch with updated looks when you change the strap.
Also recommend trying different materials like textile, rubber, nylon. Some of them offer superior comfort.
I bought a tool that clips a small opening to fit quick release spring bars …

For me: 5196P aesthetically is much more appealing than 6196P. The dial is soooooo much more interesting and beautiful. Now maybe if 6196 had Breguet numerals …..😊
Yes, the better suited movement and see thru back of 6196 are very appealing, but still, what you see on your wrist is the front side. 6196 is quite elegant but for me not so exciting. I think almost any strap will look on 5196! PS I think you should chan...

I have a different viewpoint regarding the movement. IMO, the 5196 likes it ancestor, the 96 which was first made almost 100 years ago, should have a manual wind movement.
On the other hand part of what makes the Golden Ellipse special is the legendary thin caliber 240. So, I think you have a perfect pairing of time only Pateks,
