Seven years is a maximum interval for a service

 

... as the oil is vaporising.

That is the real reason for a service, not that the movement is still running.

You can go even down to 3,5 years for very important watches.

The calibre question: the cal 240 can be wound with a crown with a mere 3 mm (if that much) in diameter.

This is an impressive fact for it self and shows how smooth things run but on top of it the mentioned crown (in an Ellipse) has also a winding stem that

is made out of two parts.

I think this should give you an idea of the winding efficiency and hence reliability of the cal 240.

 

I had to have it and as it came in an Ellipse I had to surrender myself smile!
