Single digit and exactly which days/ weeks of any year that a particular watch will be in production. The limiting factor was always (apparently) the dials....the cases and movements can be churned out as can the city chapter rings....so the cynic in me doesn’t believe that the Sterns put down how many years something will run for but rather the production of xxxxx units and then deciding how long it will take to filter them into the market. So even though the P was shorter it was longer than expected and I am guessing they wanted to get up to xxxxx units....but in reality only the Sterns know and they sure aren’t telling
5131R/5131G production number?
Hi guys A quick one, a dealer has been telling me the number of production for 5131R is about 1xx? I know Patek would never release the actual number, but just wondering if any truth to it?
I would say
absolutely no truth in it. I would expect production numbers of the each of the 5131 variants to be between 350 and 500 pieces. Gordon Lau is an authority in this area and I am sure he will provide a better insight.

The R was only in production for only 3 years. Each year with a different city ring. 001, 010 and 011. I would suggest from simply followings incomings that the first year was the lowest supply.
Production period for the R was much shorter than the Y and J and shorter even than the P. As to numbers, who knows. 🤷♂️

Any idea about the 5231J production numbers so far. How many teams working on dials etc. It appears to me they are producing more 5231Js compared to 5131s. My AD who is a small family owned AD has received 2 pieces so far

still be around 100 pieces per year. Since only J has been produced for the two years, I would presume 200 and perhaps if efficiency has improved, 300 pieces thus far. This range is naturally just a personal guess.
Thanks, this is an interesting topic even though I believe we already discussed it a few times and it's difficult to be more precise. Nobody has the official numbers, though I recall I casually had this conversations with people at Patek in the past.
What I'm pretty sure about is the number of 5131 dials produced for each of the four metals is more or less in the same ballpark. The fact that some 5131 iterations lasted less (R and P) does not necessarily imply production was also less, as these things...
No problem. I can tell you for a fact that, at least in general, dealers (assuming you mean watch dealers ;-)) hardly have access to certain information.
Like anybody else, they can obviously make educated guesses (and in this instance, that was the best I could do too!), but for many things ADs are necessarily the last to receive information directly from the brand. As for the 5131s, I can't imagine more ...
