Overview of an unusual Calatrava
One of the variants of the Patek Philippe ref. 3574 from the 1970s features an embossed Calatrava Cross tapestrie dial.
The steel cushion case measures 35 x 8 x 40 mm.
It is believed that only a few hundred examples of the ref. 3574 were made and, among the 22 examples which are known to presently exist, less than half feature this special Calatrava dial.
I personally find it a bit over the top. What about you: do you like it?

The white pattern dial
Reminds me a lot of paper tablecloth used on many tables around the world during big outside parties!

In this particular case I really like the embossed dial - and the case thinness is lovely, too 👌🏻👍🏻
I would like to see it in real life: on photos I have mixed feelings.

“Handbag dial” is well said. At least I fear that this is indeed what the dial looks like.

quite lovely ! The blue dial with hands & hour markers that have guillouche and hobnail is also unusually well done ! Although the dial is circular but with the shaped lug, does this piece fit your criteria of a "shaped" watch ?
Yes, I would call it “shaped” and it's generally described as “tonneau”.

The Calatrava dial gets a lot of love and I wasn't expecting that, but I'm very glad it does.
