If you're talking about the Leap Year indicator, that may take some time to move from II to III so if it appears to be "stuck" between the years, I believe that may be normal.
I'd observe it for a few weeks - I suspect it will be fine. If not, go back to the AD and ask him for an explanation and/or service.

You are right. Before I visit my AD, I think it is rational to really check the watch and all its functions. For sure, a company like Patek Philippe has one of the stringest quality control around.
