Hi Peter, As Amanico stated; Buy only if you like it.

Personally I did like all the 5960 variations a lot.

Aesthetically I love the 5960A with it's bracelet. It's functions, it's case shape and the vintage inspired pushers. Also it is a Flyback chronograph topped off with an Annual Calendar AND all of that in stainless steel package. Great daily wearer and you can combine it almost with all outfits and wear it on probably all occasions.

Currently the 5960 is discontinued in steel variants. When I saw an interview with Mr Thierry Stern and when he explained that PP's focus was to produce more in precious metals (maybe cutting down Nautilus/Aquanaut volume and basically not adding versions in Steel) He said in the interview that he doesn't see PP output in steel watches to go up but rather go down.

To me that was the moment I decided to hunt for this complicated beauty in steel and I absolutely am very happy with it.

When is the last time Patek made a complicated stainless steel watch? ... Honestly I don't even know and when they did, it used to be in a very low volume and all those pieces are now very hard to find.

Hope I helped you with giving my POV on this ref. and my personal motivation on why I got it.

If you really like it I would definitely recommend getting it. To my (limited)knowledge and if you look at PP model history pieces like these don't come around all that often.

Please let me know what you decided.

Best regards,

H

After a long doubt I decided it was time to pull the trigger on this one. The love for the 5960 reference has always been there. The only factor that it took me a while was about deciding which one to get. Personally I went with the A because the stainles...

My work is much easier and when I am off, I mostly wrar Rolex. My standard office watch is 5960. Other Pateks get very little wrist time. Best Kari

The 5960A is a watch to get. Young, fresh, original, horological, dynamic. Well, the only flaw I find to this watch is its bracelet, which I find a bit " outdated ".

But you can always put a good strap on it. Superb duo with the 5980! Best, Nicolas

... and find some cons, not just pros. I’m afraid I’m coming up empty. It’s a beautiful watch, congratulations! PS: the one con is that I don’t own it...

That is a con which is easy to solve. ;) [nt]

Yes, but I think I'll just stick with the 5270 and the Triple Split this year...

Great watch you got there. Both of them for that matter... Please feel free to join in on the 5960 PuristS roll call if you can find it among older posts... would love to keep counting the 5960s here

I have it. I have the black leather strap, w red stitching. Tried for a while, but always wear now with steel band. So much classier. Enjoy

Since I own this watch my assessment might be biased.

The 5960A clearly has a lot of great attributes that twisted my arm into buying one. Once I had it in my possession for a couple of weeks I found it to be mostly better than I had imagined. I have a few cons that I'll share. 1. The subseconds markings are...

Definitely agree on these ones: 3. I wish the watch had instantaneous minutes on the chronograph. 5. I wish Patek used orange instead of red for the chronograph hands. and these 2. It's a Patek annual calendar + 12 hour flyback chronograph + power reserve...

I love mine and just put it on after dinner tonight. (Although I usually war it for work) It wears so easily and I love that bracelet. I think it adds to its organic curved lines.

Great utilitarian Watch

Happy to hear you like it too. It is indeed a ref where possibly some of us have to get used to and over time get comfortable with. The bling of it under the AD's lights is not there in real life if you know what I mean. Best, H
