Patek Philippe

and I was really impressed. It comes close to the 3450/3448 in looks. Similar to the 5125 Wempe but sans crown guards. I know there are nits to pick about the design, like the placement of the text and perhaps the centre seconds, but this is the perfect P...  

You saw it at Sincere Takashimaya or ion Patek boutique ?

nit picking is sort of what collecting at this high level is about... details, details. I like the design overall. I remember when I had a 5296, however, the flat, almost sharp-edged mirror-polished bezel seemed to scratch just from the heat of one's eyeb... 

Yes that put me off the "sector" 5396G that I like very mucg tough...

It does scratch easily. But as they say, the first cut is the deepest. Once I stopped looking for them, I finally could just enjoy wearing this beauty! I imagine the 5396 would be the same. I figure it can always be polished sometime down the road if need...  

... and was a little bit disappointed. So much to see on the dial and still looked empty to me. Probably due to the color of the dial.

Isn't this a 5396R? Looks like Rose to me. I saw a 5396G yesterday and it accompanied me back home. :p

I was told the 5396G is more classic in look. Would love to see a pic of it... Rgds Sam

I had this watch for almost a month now and have been enjoying every moment of it. As for the bezel being a scratch magnet....well...we will see. Thanks for the warning though Cheers Sam PS. I would love to compare the white gold version with GP's palladi... 

I think the Patek wins hands down. The GP case is a bit too slim for my liking and the indications appear small relative to its size. - SJX
