I specifically looked for a reference that was unpolished, full set, and fairly recent. If the price difference was big, I would have considered one with an extract from the archives or service papers.

This specific one is about a 20% discount verses others I’ve seen with a Certificate of Origin.

But 20% is a lot at this price point.

IMO, price aside, you should ask for an archive to ensure authenticity of the watch, especially it is a piece to celebrate your milestone. Best of luck and let us know the decision.

Is a gray dealer able to request an archive? What does requesting an archive entail?

do the deal with an archive. Put the pressure on the dealer and see what happens.

The presence of the other items that came with the watch doesn't help me much when the one key irreplaceable item is missing. It's a modern Patek and I like to buy modern Pateks with Certificate if those are readily available. In contrast I could not care... 

The one I’m looking at is the Geneva seal 324 movement. As for dials, I kind of like the idea of the grey/blue of this generation. However, I’ve never seen a 5711 of any type in person, so that could change once I see one. I should probably watch more vid... 

Find a friend or acquaintance who owns one, try it on and the decide if it’s for you. To me it feels light, thin and delicate and there is no adjustment to the bracelet. It’s highly recognizable watch and attracts various people, among them some that don’...

I always regret later if I compromise. If you can afford one that is full set , not polished then do that . And it you a very careful wearer, I am , then it is the only way to go. My 2 cents. It is a very beautiful watch, although very hyped, but who care...
