In the past, PP used to rhodinate its wg cases.

Rhodinated wg is just as bright as platinum. However, the rhodium plating may wear of, like gold plaque. I am not sure, though, when they stopped rhodium plating. I thought it was long before the 5205.
Personally, I prefer pure white gold because of its warm shine.

5712 vs 5740 and other WG models: anyone find the new Patek WG too gray?
By: mattg6 : February 11th, 2021-19:30
I think it’s now “gray gold” or whatever they call it. I find the old style white gold was much whiter and basically indistinguishable from platinum. Whereas the new WG is almost a dark gray. In low lighting it actually looks matte. It reminds me of tanta...

I didn’t realize this in beginning. Now I have to confess that is the reason it doesn’t get much wristtime. Seems I am not the only one who has that problem. Best Tempus ...

3700 white gold was different. Not shure about the whitegold/plating in the non-sports-lineup. I personally love the warm luster of this gray gold. So different from the shiny steel/platinum/plated look.
I have seen and had both on my wrist and to me...

they are different watches and each has its own DNA. The brighter blue dial of the 5740 matches well with a less bright case and bracelet, whereas the darker blue dial of 5712 goes well with a brighter steel case and bracelet. Both are fabulous IMO !
Today all Patek G’s are grey gold.

I have seen this on my Gs as well. From approximately 2006 Patek started to move away from rhodium surface treatment to Grey gold. I am certain sone of the Expert herre can confirm exactly when and what models was moved to the new material over time. When...
