In fact the reason is quite simple

In fact, regarding size matters, there are for Patek 2 main reasons:
1. The size is subjective: for a same age and same wrist size, two people from different regions will have a different ideal size. If you add the age, you have people used to smaller watches (earlier times) and people used to bigger sizes (younger crowds). Thus this choice might be a very good news, all depends on which side we stand.
2. The fact that there must be offers for all the wrist sizes and origins: people with bigger wrist find ridiculous to have a 38 or 40mm watch on their wrist, depending of course on the style (dressy, sporty...).
Hence, as the collections are mainly composed of watches < 39-40 mm, it is normal and even necessary to have at least a few models for people enjoying bigger watches (as long as they are not 45mm I assume). The 5905P and the 5168G are one of these.
Of course, I don't talk about very complicated watches that need bigger cases, just the more regular ones.
Hence, this is a watch that pleases you and I said this week-end (here:
www.watchprosite.com) how good looking I think it is but I also think it is normal to have such a size, especially as there aren't many, to say the least, and that the 5168G is not that big in the end either.
That's bad luck that it falls on a model you like very much...
I'm sorry, you find it too big but as I imagine some big wrist client find some models too small, there has to be watches for everyone
Thanks for the picture and feedback Cayenne!
Best, Mark
PS: it is maybe the picture but I really don't find the watch looks too big on your wrist. But that's just me
