The 5712 models are only rated for 60 meter depths. I don't think 60 meter depth resistance is good enough for swimming duty.
Go for the beautiful 5711/1A for swimming duty and we've seen an individual on PuristSPro with a 5980/1A who even activated his chronograph buttons under water!
I know of an individual who showered with his 5712/1A within two weeks of owning it and water penetrated subsequently ruining his movement and he ultimately had to have the entire watch replaced.

I initially bought the 5711 and had to sell it in order to buy the 5980. I have to admit that 5711 sits much better on the wrist but I do prefer the bolder presence of the 5980. Being my only bracelet watch, I prefer it to be a little sportier.

how a watch capable of 60 meters underwater cannot stand up to a shower. The depth ratings from all the Swiss watch companies do not mean what they say. Thus, a watch certified to 30 meters should never be submerged even though it can go down 30 meters. G...
