Patek Philippe

I will try to clear up some misconceptions regarding how to set the functions of a vintage Patek perpetual based on my experiences and the

excerpt pictured from an original Ca 1980s Patek instruction manual. You will notice that there are instructions on how to set a 3448, 3450 and 2499.

As pictured there are 3 correctors on the case to set the date and day, day only and moon phases. Corrections are not made from the movement, rather they are made from those correctors. The reason it is such a long process to set all the functions is that there is no corrector for the month. I once asked at a Patek service center if one of the watchmakers could quick set everything from the movement and was told “no”. The watchmaker would have to go through the same laborious process using the correctors.

Hope this information is helpful.

Best, Patekova
