The Certificate of mine is stating as reference 3940R-(dial number). However, the Certificate is of the current type. I also checked a Certificate that is of the same type than yours (the previous type) and there the type of gold is not stated in the reference but just like in your case.
Why do you worry? The Certificate looks real. If the watch looks fine, just get it serviced in one of Patek's Service Centers and wear your watch happily. If you want to get some more written information like the year of manufacture, order the Extract from Archives. You can learn more about this service from Patek's home pages. Just find it under Customer Service section.

Some doubts about Certificate of Origine: strange to see a new type of Certificate of Origine dated 1987....it should be smaller and different; but may be I'm wrong.
