I think it doesn’t matter if you are
going to trade pieces or pay with cash etc. My understanding is that if you are not ready to loose maybe all the money that you paid for the watch, if the money / value that you are keeping in that watch is worrisome for you, you shouldn’t be buying that watch. Other than that I don’t think anyone here can tell you anything about the future price of that said watch, nobody knows, people can make educated guesses but you already know market prices / rarity of the watch, your guess is as good as anyone here.

Definitely don’t buy if this in any way comes before your family. That’s a no brainer. One should always put family waaay before a watch hobby/watch purchase.

But again you never know what the future is about. And that expensive hobby of ours can be managed in a healthy manner by taking minor precautions

Current market piece is down between 90 and 100k i would say
While it was 120k+ a few months ago. I think original rrp was 68k€ and it raised quite a bit to 94k€ for the new 5231g

Watches get damaged, stolen, lost etc. If you're worried about a watch losing value, I would submit that it is indeed an investment.
