Patek Philippe

The Patek Philippe 5496 is another interpretation of a Perpetual Calendar only model in the collection. It has the Calatrava 5296 style for the box, lugs and bezel, as the same 324 based caliber. However, it is equipped with a Perpetual Calendar complicat...  

....its heritage, for one..... it has that feel of the 70s that I find so appealing... ...very under-appreciated model from the range. Looking forward to your review.

Saw it in a window only and there was no spark at all coming from it. One would think that the RG version would be the most attractive one, like the 5270 R. It looked too busy on the dial, for some reason. Maybe I have to see it more often. Looking forwar... 

and still do a little even if my opinio has evolved since a saw it. This wasn't the kind of style I liked, at all. Something was missing. But, 2 or 3 days after I tried it, I started to appreciate this little simple discretion and style. I'm still thinkin... 

mostly because of the seconds and retrograde date. However, I have never considered it. Why? I find it a bit thick and in my eyes the watch does not have a strong enough character and it's lacking charisma. Best, Kari

As I said to Moritz, I have changed a little (more than a little in fact), some days after I tried it. This "too simple" look, that you call rightly "lack of charisma" is in fact a kind of discretion I learned to appreciate. I thought it was not to my tas... 

and i.e. a black dial, even black enamel, the watch would be in my shopping list. I'm not a red gold guy and the platinum version has a bit weird coloured dial... Best, Kari

And for the Salmon version, as I said to Keks, it wasn't a color I would have though of either. But I must recognize that it brings a very different offer and, who knows, maybe it would look nice in the metal? There are so many references to consider.... ... 

on my wrist. The colour of the dial is identical to the stuff my baby has on her diapers after too much of cabbage... Diaper change is not in my contract and thus, this case-dial combo is not for me. Best, Kari

I think the prefer the cleaner dial of the first version as opposed to the framing on the later models. All a matter of taste. Bob

I've seen the current 5496P with its "honey" dial today: the case pleases me more and more. It has straight lines, is discreet but is gorgeous. Thus I can appreciate your model even more, thanks a lot for coming back sharing it Bod, much appreciated. Chee...
