Farewell to my 3417....... ...at least for the next 6 months or so.....it is time for service. Always a painful time...especially as this one gets a lot of wrist-time from me. Steel. Amagnetic. Manual wind. 27AM-400 movement. There is nothing about this w...  

And then I felt relieved. How can you let tis one go? Other than for a service. This is my favorite vintage Patek. Along with some sector dials. Enjoy the absence, you will feel the miss, then the love for it. Best, Nicolas

......yes, it really has its charm. So many in vintage Patek to pick a favourite, but it would be in my Top 5 for sure. This is the last of my vintage to go through service.i have serviced all of them now....a long and arduous experience. Even m7 5070 has... 

Same for the 5070G. But one of these years, I will send them, one by one... Tough times! Best, Nicolas

......if i buy a vintage watch, I have no real knowledge of how it has been treated before or when it was last serviced. Also, especially with Patek, I like to make sure that the watch is exactly as it is meant to be...hence I will tend to get them servic... 

For moderns, it depends. I bought my 5110P new from a Patek AD. So, no worries. The 5070 I bought is used. I monitored it for a while and everything went fine, so no hurry. But It's been 7 years I got it.... In one or two years, it will be time to send it... 

...that it was going to the spa for a while. Whether this one, your 570 or your 3448, there was no way you would let any of them go, at least without calling me first ! (hope keeps alive) "L'attente, c'est la moitié du plaisir !" as we say in French ! You... 

....don't spend too long by the phone just in case.

.....i see a 2509 as possible...very possible. Yet, given you have started the amagnetic theme, 3417 certainly fits with the geophysic. I know quite a few guys with the original geophysic. I know quite a few guys with the 3417. I do not know ANYONE who ow... 

Time will tell...anyway, I will be in London soon
