I think all you need is a canon macro L-lens, a tripod, remote shutter release button, and good lighting! Be that as it may, the star of the photo easily compensates - though I think your shot is pretty good.

I must of missed this one last year! Nicely done!

I think you spotted the three main differences: the time, the timezone (I set mine on Paris, to try to lure Nico into finally buying one), and most important...all that crazy hair around my watch! ;-)))))

Seriously, quite a few others of our members here obviously have this iconic modern WT, and it would be great to one day make a collage comparing them all (maybe we have 15? 20?!? ;-) I'm sure no two of them will even come close, which like Gordon was say...

A well crafted collage would be very exciting to see for all the 5131s in this forum! Fascinating photos of two of the same, yet different timepieces. Reminds me a bit of The Ninth Gate and the engravings. I still cannot get over the 3D effect of the latt... 

Indeed, the 3D effect is pretty amazing in this "School of fish" dial, even more so in person or under a loupe! I'm sure the human factor plays a critical role during the execution of any of these pieces...
