Happy fathers day and I hope there will be an understated complicated PP this year !

PP 5125G has been my all-time-favorite since I saw it in the metal and finally had the pleasure of acquiring one early this year.

Such a wonderfully executed piece that, to me, is why I love PP

1. Perfect size 37 mm for my wrist, and thickness that is just about right - not thick. I still prefer the thinnes of 5140, but it does not have a seconds hand.
2. Simple, clean yet very functional dial.
3. Very low profile brand name, including the Wempe. In comparison, the new pieces shout PP on their dials.
4. Very very understated and almost invisible on the wrist. Since I started wearing it, not one individual noticed it - including my wife.

I can only wish that the new PP president remembers its "understated elegance" heritage and comes up with at least "one" such piece this year at its 175th.

Of course, I know that I am in a minority as most folks like +40 mm pieces on their wrists.

Happy fathers day to those of you who enjoy the pleasure of raising the next generation.

Cheers Jim

That is possibly the best looking Patek that was made specifically for an AD. Great choice! Really, really like this annual calendar. Enjoy Moritz

The perfect size is always the one ...

that fits to your wrist, no matter what others are thinking. This one looks just perfect on your wrist. It is a very nice watch you have, but for my taste even the "hidden" Wempe on the dial was a no go those days. Do I prefer the bigger "wording" on the ...

Proportion is key. I don't have a big wrist also. Thus , 36 to 39 is optimal for me. The 5125 is very nice. Almost indistinguishable from 5396. Will we have more and more look alike PP references in future ?

Thank you for your comments...

but 5396 at 39 mm with a large PP logo and flat, mirror-like surfaces shines and shouts out on your wrist. It really looks like an expensive watch. I like the 5396, however I did not find it understated at all, especially when compared to the 5125. I also...

you have exquisite taste my friend..

this is my dream patek, yes it isn't a perpetual calendar like Charlie Sheen's, but it is an amazing interpretation of modern vs. classic design w/ new design innovations by implementing an Annual Calendar mechanism. This I believe is the route Thierry sh...

and glad to know that I am not alone feeling disappointed with the new direction of PP with bigger everything. Best Jim

Evaluate also 3940G, 5038G and 5039G. Same budget, but an important difference....Perpetual not annual...
