Usually I keep my calendar watches on a multi-watch winder and rotate wearing them. FWIW; the 3940J (yes it is yellow gold!) has not been serviced in the past 15 years; I am very hesitant to send in to Patek for a complete service for the fear that my new... 

That's not an advice as the brand advices every 3-5 years but just how I would do with mine if I were in your position. Best, Mark

If we sent our perpetual calendars to Patek for service every 3-5 years, we wouldn't reap the full benefit of the leap year adjustment. For me that defeats the purpose.
