Reckon I am not unique, but quite a few of us strive towards attaining the grail watch. As a rule, I aim to collect only 1 watch for every brand, and have recently sold six nice watches to buy one extraordinary one. PP is the only brand that I keep two watches ... well they are the best, right? In retrospect, aren't we like competitors striving towards the gold medal in every event?
A question for the audience- collector/watchmaker/dealer?
I am curous to find out where each of us sits on the spectrum. I understand that some are collector/watchmakers and some are watchmaker / dealers whilst other lie at either end of the spectrum. Where do you sit?- no pressure to answer if you feel uncomfor...
You are probably at the nut end of the spectrum.
Whereas I am probably at the consumer end and wish I could argue I was a collector. Best regards, George

less of an enthusiast and more a collector..
I feel you can be a 'serious' collector without having 'serious' funds. In fact it makes it more important to be serious about collecting when you have limited means. I would class myself as a collector rather than an enthusiast of Patek. I love their pie...

I would say that because we all have different tastes and budgets we are not at all competitors. Thank god for that. For example I strong disagree that Patek is the ultimate trophy. Yes its a great brand and well managed but there were great watch brands ...

The reasons I think I qualify are (1) number of watches and (2) the fact that I collect based on certain coherent (at least to me) themes.

i'm a collector for many years, but recently retired from collecting "new" watches due to the high price.
