Baby Boomer Generation Requirements...
You see, as people age, their eyesight goes bad. The Baby Boomer generation is maturing and is now reaching that stage where eyesight is starting to deteriorate for some of them. Hence, this is a practical reason to have a large Panerai sized wristwatch strapped to your wrist. Also, due to deteriorating eye sight, the font on the watch dials must be larger to make them more legible.
The above is meant as a joke, but who knows, there might be an ounce of truth in it.
