Favre L was the Patek agent for India at some point ....

This thread got me curious to learn something new, as I really know next to nothing about vintage watches...

As in a sense I was hoping, at least at a quick web search, I could locate *no* reliable examples of gold-plated Pateks. Can some vintage expert confirm --- or provide a counterexample, which would also be interesting --- that Patek has indeed never produ...

Isn't it the clasp saying plated? It might well be a non-original strap.

Pressumably we need to see the rear of the case and preferably inside plus movement.

As far as I know and I have no evidence to the contrary , Patek has never produced a gold plated watch

In that vein, I don't think I have ever seen a silver cased Patek wristwatch either Julian

Patek has never done gold plating

...to my knowledge. That looks like a real patek but I think the back was modified to fit that rope strap. .... The movement will tell you for sure... if it’s real, that’s a very cool double signature. Look forward to seeing movement!

IMHO the fact that the buckle is non-Patek and plated is irrelevant.

The question is what is written on the outside of the case, if anything; on the inside of the case and on the movement. Suggest you have a watchmaker take off the case back and that you take some photos. Or better yet, if convenient, take it to Patek for ...

I’m only guessing, but I’d say it’s not genuine.

The fact it says “Patek Philippe Co”, is unusual, the crown looks oversized, the printing looks newer than the watch and also isn’t evenly sized or level. From the photo the quality of the watch doesn’t look the best. I’d be very suspicious.

My thoughts ss its very rough [nt]
