Thanks Gordon! As far as foresight, my initial reaction was ugh! Over time my feelings changed gradually, but cumulatively dramatically.
When I acquired it NOS almost 15 years ago, appreciation of it was just starting to grow, but nothing like the way it is viewed today. Best, patekova

Though I've seen the 5020 in the past, my first reaction again was one of uncertainty. But as I look with a more discerning eye, there is something about the reference which is appealing.
I'm not convinced I can honestly claim it to be beautiful, though perhaps "compelling" is the more appropriate descriptor??

You will note that in my original post and follow ups I never said that I think the 5020 is "beautiful". Beautiful is a word I use sparingly, especially in regards to watches I own. For me beautiful is a very strong word and an over used description. I'm ...
Another thing
I like on this watch is the minutes/seconds track is fully intact around the dial. The 5940 and 5270 both overlap the date at the bottom and the track is lost t that point preventing precise timing.
To my eye....
