Patek Philippe

A unique survivor?

Manufactured in 1942, this specific watch is considered, to the best of the available knowledge, to be the only example of ref. 1542 to have survived.

The balance cock of its 10-110 movement bears the import stampPXP” showing that this watch was made specifically for the American market, which is coherent with the Tiffany & Co. signed dial.

The watch was sold by Christie's on July 13th 2020.

I discovered its existence while exploring the collection of our dear Roni Madhvani, to whom it belonged.

Watch by Patek Philippe, 1542, Calatrava

I know that hooded lugs are no longer in fashion and that the design of this watch will not appeal to many, but, seen on Roni Madhvani's wrist, I find it full of style and charm.

Side by side with the “Comet” ref. 1551

Side by side with an example of ref. 3445 which is also signed Tiffany & Co.

The two-tone pink dial is wonderful.

Last wrist shot.

Last static shot.

A divisive design, for sure, but a watch I personally find wonderful.

Do you like it too?

Thanks for looking.

Best, Emmanuel
