I think the 5059 is beautiful - much better in metal than photos. Although i own other traditional perpetuals, i find the retrograde calendar particularly fascinating especially at the end of the month. It returns to "1" with a loud "click" which is much more "satisfying" to me than the register changes of other watches. Furthermore, the officer's case with hinged back makes the watch unusual which I like.
You will hear comments about it being too thick or not as nice as its predecessor, however, I urge you to see it in the metal before making a decision. I think it looks beautiful in both yellow and white/platinum. But I'm biased because I own two of them!

5059 is a nice watch.
I have been tempted to acquired it many times before but have had to turn it down due to its small diameter on my 6 1/2" wrist. If you have a smaller wrsit than mine I think it will look perfect. No doubt it's a very nice watch.

I like the complications (retro-grade) and center seconds, however I found the watch a bit too small for me. Having said that, it might be a perfect size for others. Good luck.
