Patek Philippe

Greetings to all;
I am interested in acquiring a Patek perpetual calendar and want to get an opinion from other forum members on different choices. I am particularly intertested in 5059 and any specific opinions on this piece would be appreciated; I was told by an AD that 5059 is being discontinued and a replacement might be anounced soon?? If any one has pricing or availability info, please PM me. Thanks in advance.
P.S; could anyone please e-mail me the Patek price list which was available on the forum recently?

I think the 5059 is beautiful - much better in metal than photos.  Although i own other traditional perpetuals, i find the retrograde calendar particularly fascinating especially at the end of the month.  It returns to "1" with a loud "click" which is much more "satisfying" to me than the register changes of other watches.  Furthermore, the officer's case with hinged back makes the watch unusual which I like.

You will hear comments about it being too thick or not as nice as its predecessor, however, I urge you to see it in the metal before making a decision.  I think it looks beautiful in both yellow and white/platinum.  But I'm biased because I own two of them!

is a nice watch.  It sits high on the wrist but some don't mind this.  Also it uses the 315 movement and therefore has a center seconds hand which many people prefer also.  The others that use the 240 movement like the 3940 and the new 5940 don't have the seconds hand, only hour and minute among the hands for the perpetual calendar indications.  I don't own one so I cannot comment on it's performance or maintenance requirements.

it sits well on your wrist.
Personally I can't wear the watch for too long as it is round and thick, plus I don't like the stark white dial.
Very emotionless, imho.
I have look and tried at several examples for a long time before I got my 5050.
5050 is a much better watch to wear and to look at.

I have been tempted to acquired it many times before but have had to turn it down due to its small diameter on my 6 1/2" wrist. If you have a smaller wrsit than mine I think it will look perfect.
No doubt it's a very nice watch.

I like the complications (retro-grade) and center seconds, however I found the watch a bit too small for me.  Having said that, it might be a perfect size for others.

especially compared to the larger diameter watches which PP is making these days.   And yes, it is being discontinued, according to  well-informed sources (and my AD).  I love the retrograde hand!
