2 x 37mm Pateks wear so differently - 5107 v 5035

Hello all !,

I am a huge Patek Philippe fan and I am proud to own 2 pieces.  I have a 5107 and a 5035 - these are the auto 3 hand 5107 with date and the classic 5035 annual calendar (I believe the first model of annual calendar released in 1996).

Both these watches are 37 mm but they wear very differently.

The 5107 wears larger - uses a 20 mm leather strap and feels like a 38 mm or 39 mm AP.

The 5035 wears like a 36 mm piece (like a classic Rolex DateJust).  The 5035 uses a 19 mm strap and tapers in smaller than the 20 mm 5107.

I love both these pieces.  They are amazing watches.  I am a bit saddened that some members here feel the 5035 is not a great watch.  Nothing definate - but some small misgivings about the 5035 being a touch small and not having a moonphase feature.  Personally I hate the moonphase feature as it reminds me of a extramarital affair with a loopy blonde years ago who was into astrology and moons and rubbish like that.

I really feel the 5035 will become very collectable once the "dinner plate special" craze goes away.  Once people realise the 5035 is a classic dress watch - the price can only go one way.

I think some of the negative comments come from "grubby Russians" who have more money than manners.  Oh god, I wish Russia was still under communist rule!

Back to the 5035 - I think it is the classic annual calendar.... a truly amazing watch to evolve in the 90s.

Thank you for reading this posting.
