Well...

I have looked at all three, and chose the 5078P...they're all quite different....the 5078P is clean, simple design and a pure sound. The enamel dial has a really lovely tone and depth to it which is hard to convey in photos. Looks like a pocket watch design that has been miniaturised for the wrist. The 5074 is a bigger, more contemporary thing. I'm a big fan of the 5070, but the dial on the 5074 just doesn't do it for me...I think it is the sub dials - the text looks too "forced" somehow. The gongs have a very nice rich sound though. The 5016 is a fabulous piece, and is the most complex so if that's your thing then go for it...the case is kind of like a 5004 in size and shape. Sits quite high. You'll love any of them I think...make sure to try on the wrist first as your choices have quite different case dimensions.

5078,5074,5016......... Very very different watches with different prices............................... I have always had a rule when putting my collection together which is " buy what I love on my wrist".... I am trying to arrange to be able to have a l...

I personally love the 5078 and 5074.

I imagine that there are many 5016 owners on this forum; thus, I want to say that the 5016 is a fantastic watch, it's just not necessarily my personal favorite among the three listed by Miles151. The 5078 has a very pleasant heft, a fairly loud volume des...

WHat exactly are you chasing after .... ??

Are you considering buying a repeater because of the pure sound ?? The choice you have put on the table has a huge difference, each model has a totally different sound, not to mention additional movements. I dont think we need to doubt the sound of each o...

Thanks guys.... It is a difficult choice........

I am not sure if the sound is the most important thing to me or how the watch feels and looks on my wrist???? I would like a manual wind but an auto would be good also...... I guess I will know when and if I can handle and listen to them. The only one I h...

5016 experience

I was given the great opportunity to hold a 5016 (still in it's box) at the Henry Stern Watch Agency. I was dropping my 3800 off for service and the excellent customer service representative brought one out for me to admire. The watch is rather thick (mak...

Are you kidding? A Rg MR would feel great!!

I have had only one MR in my possession for a brief period, an 18k yellow gold cushion shape from 1930. The watch was reasonably small but so discreet and elegant. No one had any idea what this was and the sound was beautiful. Personally, I prefer this ty...

5078

I have seen and 'handled' all three, and lost more at PP in Geneve, and in my view 5004 and 5078 are works of art, the two most beautiful watches in the world. 5074 is over the top, 5016 is also very beautiful, but not as special as 5004 and 5078. Imo, of...

You need to experience each of these pieces on your wrist, and in all likelihood more then once! This is too personal for me to advise you beyond suggesting you asking yourself how you like these pieces on your wrist, how will it fit into your collection,...

Without hesitation....

5016 for me. Argueably, one of the finest contemporary watches currently produced. I love the dial layout, traditional case design, and the complications packed within this master-piece are simply extraordinary. It is a contempory watch that can go head-t...

Hi, Between your three choices I would hesitate a lot between two. I have no opinion if the 5016 or the 5074 is the more beautiful. I consider and see both differently gorgeous. I would love to own a pink gold 5016 with opaline dial, it would be a superb ...

Hi, Think about which features you want on your casual or dress wristwatch. Is it important that you have the date on your watch? Do you need the watch to be waterproof? Do you need an alarm on your watch? All of these things should be considered.Another ...

And I think you have to focus on what is the most important to you.....by that i mean are you focused on and desire a highly complicated timepiece with a minute repeater function or simply a minute repeater. In my case I chose the later because most of my...

to decide the 5016P would be the crowning glory of my watch collection. Not a pretty or a perfect watch by any stretch of the imagination: too small, too deep, too many font-types used on the dial, but a horological masterpiece nonetheless. The rose gold ...

Mike, thanks for your interesting insight on this subject.

Did you ever get your MR, maybe through another source?

All my pieces came from Patek Philippe

as I like to know the provenance and on complicated pieces I do not want an expensive repair / service bill if things are not perfect also on in production, important pieces the premium is usuallyto high when going to the secondary market....there may be ...

I have only included the abridged version of my sorry tale, Patek Philippe treated me with complete disdain, despite the fact I was willing to spend around half a million dollars on a single new watch. I decided I wanted to have this watch made just for m...
