Rose, Yellow, Platinum or White?
Thanks for your response. IMHO, I think you're approach of making a metal choice based on the characteristics of the specific reference is very wise. Many people will, for example buy only white metal watches, which I find somewhat limiting. I think the 5070R and 5070G have a very different look. My strong preference is for the white gold; but, others (probably like yourself) feel equally strongly about the rose gold version. In other models, e.g. 5050 and 3970 I prefer the rose, while in 5970, I prefer the white. I think it would be interesting to know what criteria others apply in deciding whether to buy a specific model in J, R, G or P (or steel, if avaliable).

Congratulations on a wonderful group of Pateks. I am interested in knowing what metals are the 5059 and 5040. Also, am curious, since you seem to have a decided preference for white metals, what led you to buy a rose 5070, rather than the white one? Best ...
both the 5040 and 5059 are in platinum. I actually do not prefer white metals........
I go for the overall look of the watch. For example, I think that the 5004 and 5135 are nicest in yellow gold and if i were to get either of them, it would be in yellow. I wanted the 5040 in rose gold but the silver dial on the platinum one really looked ...
