My fear always was that 5990 is too thick.
But I tried it at the WT/TT event at which I ordered the 5164R and it looked great. So I ordered both. I hope it doesn’t arrive before Spring 2021; need to slow down a bit.
This has been thr only complaint I've heard from people about the 5990/1A and most don't even own the watch LOL...

Agreed. I actually owned both the SS and Ti versions of this Ingy reference (3227 and 3228). Ended up gifting them to my two cousins but do agree that they were amazing and over-engineered in a good way...
I might add a 40mm white/silver dial 3228 with the display back which was only produced for 1 year if I can find one NOS 😁

It's nice that you could get the watch back! But the last photo kind of looks like the model wants the watch for a little longer! In my eyes it looks like the model is holding both hands up waiting to get the watch back!
