Jumping Month - 5960

Nov 05, 2019,02:42 AM

Has anyone with your annual calendar PP ever came across this rare phenomenon? The watch was purchased new from PP Salon in March 2018, since then, it has jumped forward by one month, on three separate occasions, and I honestly don't know which day of the month or which month it does the "jump". The photo submitted, one can see on the right side, the date time / original was 10/8/2018, and the watch window shows Fri 10 SEP. I have returned the watch to HK PP After-sales Service Center for 3 weeks now, they replied there is nothing wrong with the watch by observing this watch under their methods of testing. I requested a complete service overhaul because the watch is still under the two years warranty period. They replied, they will not do the full service because they did not find anything wrong with the watch, and wanted to return the watch to Geneva for more testing and observation. My question to all, is WHY don't they listen to the owner and performed a full overhaul service to ensure all parts within are properly aligned or tightened, and perhaps rectify the jump month phenomenon. Do all think this watch should return to Geneva for a complete service instead of waiting for HK PP Service Center to decide what to do? I am very annoyed and frustrated with their reply so far...

Was the watch in continuous use or on a winder all the time while this happened, or did the power sometimes run down and it stopped and you had to reset the date/time again manually?

I have been contacted by PP Salon, to deliver the watch back to them for a detail examination to find out the cause and rectify the problem. Which means I have to personally deliver the piece, another long haul holiday trip planning for 2020, I guess they...

I would personally avoid complete overhaul if not needed

Even the best watchmakers leave marks behind when performing a service. If there is no need to do one I would avoid it just to avoid internal scratches and other “wear” on screws etc that is pretty much unavoidable.
