It is just a very very minor issue.... take it easy.....BUT......

why such minor issue happens?

Three years ago (2005 Summer) about the same time, there was similar issue...

Of course, the "main character" of the story was not 5980 as it was still not born yet.... It was the 5980's brother 5970. At that time, there was a "large" batch of 5970 available. There were also "many" people posting in various fora posting their new watches. However, at the same time, there were also quite a few people reporting issue with 5970. These issues were indeed minor but it did happen.... happen for a brand new watch.

For the 5980, do you guys find its availability in AD is better recently? Why?

Actually I would prefer them to make less 5980 but with better QC.

I do understand that under such economic situation, they may want to make as much as possible to capture $ before the market collapse... However, I believe the other way round should work better (i.e. reduce production).

Reason:

- I believe we don't want to see broken 5980 everywhere; instead, we prefer to see perfect 5980 (but not everywhere).

- In fact, I believe if they don't flood the market with their watches, they can charge whatever they want for their watches.... By doing that, they can increase their profit margin by making LESS... They can still sell the 5980 well even with a higher list price(say 60k or even more)... provided that 5980 are still extremely RARE.

- By keeping the brand exclusive, it is good for them in the long run. At least, they can mark the list price for the watches with excellent profit margin (because their demand would be relatively inelastic).

Therefore, Patek, could you please put more efforts on the quality (and QC) on the watches and increase your price to a level such that it can compensate your "loss" due to the increase in cost and the decrease in production.

To be honest, I prefer the old days.... less watches but with better quality (and relatively high price when compared with other brand)..... It is what is meant by EXCLUSIVE.... and it is what is meant a Patek!

I'm not sure that 5980 has a fly-back function.

Just got this 5980 for two weeks. Playing around with the chronograph function..... Try the fly-back and then.... Oooh I don't know I want to laugh or to cry..... I found it is not the fly-back function. It is the FLY-AWAY ! PS: In my record, the modern P...

Ouch!

Actually my favorite part of the flyback function is that it makes the chronograph much more foolproof. Not sure it's fair to blame your problem on Patek though. Pushing the return button while the chorono is running on a non-flyback chrono will break any...

The flyback function of mine works well. It was a bit scary the first time I pushed the button as I'm not sure if it works. I must say that your picture was hilarious and made me laugh. Must hit the list of funniest picture of the year. Try to see the fun...

Not meant to be fiddle with or move/worn too often especially for their relatively new 5960/5980 and complicated watches.. It has been more than 2 years now since the chrono hands problem appeared in the 1st batch of 5960,it may take sometime until their ...
