First of all, if you choose an Octa Automatique, be sure that you get a great watch. I find it more appealing than the 5127: the caliber is really beautiful and the dial more original. Of course, with Patek, you will get a watch from the most prestigious ... 

very nice! first time i see the movement. I could live with both the fpj and the pp. just looking at the movement i have an idea why the fpj is more expensive....

Welcome to the forum..... Between the two, I would choose the FPJ.... However it is not a "fair" comparison between these two watches, as the FPJ has a double date and a power reserve (as the Count has mentioned)...... Both manufacturers are top quality a...

As others have mentioned, the Journe and Patek are two different creatures, both design and watch function wise. The Journe does have the PR function, big date, and off center seconds dial as others have discussed. The Patek is very nice but admittedly ra... 

However I think as a long term love affair if it was me .....PP for sure Why? the history for a start then the looks probab mvt wise they are the same, maybe FPJ is even better? and despite 40,000 pcs, remember that the PP production includes a lot of lad... 

picture is of the Octa Perpetual but the base movement is the same I suppose. As other have said,these two are not close enough for a direct comparison but will depend on other factors such as personal preference in terms of size,(FPJ is slightly larger) ... 

PP has a much more reliable movement and as it will be your "life watch", the reliability should be one of the most relevant concerns of you. FPJ is very innovative, however, you should be aware that the techinical quality (not the decorative) and quality... 

I had FPJ Octa, there a was a problem with big date. The watch had been repaired twice. Then sold out. My choice is Patek

Thank you very much for your replies. I think you raised a very important point in the fact the Patek has a long history of reliable movement but FP Journe doesn't. I also read that there were a few issues with Journe, mainly with the first batch of Octa.... 

I have the FPJ you are considering (38 mm) black label...it is superb. I have had no problems and it as accurate as any of my PPs, ALSs, APs, etc...perhaps more so. The best advice is get what you love - not what others suggest. I love the 5127 and someda...

I hear the 5127s are gone only whats in inventory at the ADs. I tried to order in rose and was told no way to get them by the AD. I had read earlier they were only put back in the 2010 cat. because a few were still in the factory and earmarked for the US.
