It was spring 1990, I had just aquired what was then my dream watch, a steel Rolex Datejust ref 16210, on jubilee bracelet, with white dial and gold Romans. It was fantastically expensive, at £950. I had just qualified, and my salary was a huge £7,000 per...

Considering.....

the price..... You got a deal....... However, you got addicted to horology.... So, money wise, you lost.... but enjoyment..... As a well known credit card ad says..... Priceless.... Cheers

I have the feeling we took the same way, and we're a lot, IMO.

With Time passing, another phenomenon occured. We managed to make simple watches coexist with complicayed watches, passing from one to another... Something which is much harder to do with Houses... Very nice sotry, my friend. I still remember your nice 55...

An inspiring story...

Hi, I'm very happy for you. I would be very happy for anybody acquiring a 5970P, but I'm obviously even happier after reading the wonderful story of your horological quest. The 5970P seems truly deserved in your case. It is also my favourite modern PP (wi...

Imran, I am speechless. Anyway huge congratulation to you.

Imran, a question

 By: Bruno.M1 : June 1st, 2010-07:23
In 1990 the watch was more or less 55K (£) and a house in London was 63K Today we find a 2499 for more or less £ 250K , how much for the house in London ? I just would like to know if watches went sky high the last decades (which I doubt)

The house is now £380-420K....:-) [nt]

Congratulations on your 5970P! That's an entertaining story. I came very close to getting one recently, but the deal fell through. I don't think I have the patience though to wait 20 years to get one. Eric von Schonberg
