I own both in PT. They are among my fav all time pieces. I very much enjoy wearing the datograph on a casual basis; jeans w/ polo to slacks w/ blazer. It's heavy, but it is an all-time great chronograph. The only negative is that I feel, in PT w/ the stealth strap, it is too casual for my suits. For my, its not a "dress watch".
I love wearing my Resonance. it is so different; so cool to enjoy the resonating movements and observe the seconds hands. It is a much lighter watch than the dato. I can wear the resonance very easily with jeans and a polo, and also a suit. For me, it is a more formal watch than the datograph.
Winding the Resonance took me some time to get used to. Now, it's no big deal. As with Brad, I always wear my Resonance when I travel in different time zones. It is the ULTIMATE two time zone watch.
Then again, I can use the chrono function of my Dato to time the salmon on the grill

No one can advise you on which is better. I had parked my Datograph for a few months and, when I wore it again last week, I discovered that I had really missed it. Same goes with the Resonance when I don't wear it for a few weeks.
As for value, both may do well (over time). FPJ raised their prices well over 10% last year and their used pieces appear to have risen similarly. All things being equal, one major advantage with the Resonance; it has such low production numbers (50+ a year with World Wide distribution!!!) and only two watch makers who can build it (one being FPJ himself - Brad, can you please confirm this). In my mind, FPJ will thrive in a very tight market of clones. There is simply too little production from his amazing shop to keep prices from rising.
Also, now thinking, there are Many, Many chrono's. Admitedly, the datogrtaph is my favorite at any price. If you are a chrono nut, then buy the datograph; you won't be dissapointed.
However, there is only ONE Resonance.
Oh yea; another reason to go with the Resonance in a tie breaker; its a Journe!
