Slightly thicker than expected at 10.7mm cased. But then again, it's got an impressively long power reserve, so that main spring has to go somewhere!

I like the redesigned dial but the 40 mm is still the better choice compared to the 42mm.

Really beautiful re-interpretation of the Automatique that came out in 2001 if I recall. They made one last year but limited with a brass movement too!

This was actually announced las year but we never saw any press release. So while you could say it is old news itās was good to finally see it. I think it is closer to the original from 2001, as you say that the current one.
The Octa was Journes take on trying to make the best possible performing Automatic movement (In terms of accuracy)
So while itās basically the same movement (cal 1300) it has received some improvements over the years. So it is now itās 3rd variant named cal 1300.3. I spoke with Francois-Paul about it last year. He considers the current one a much better performer than the first iteration eve though the overall design is the same.
The asymmetric layout is created to make room to add additional complications such as a a calendarr, chronograph ect ect.you can find these in the Octa collection . So instead of stacking a complication module on top of a basic movement, it is integrated into the movement. The Octa automatique is just the most basic one.

I was in Paris recently and had the pleasure to see 2 pieces in the flesh: Souveraine and Classique Lune. Lucky me 
I tried on the Souveraine and found the case more fitted than the Classique. It felt really good on my wrist. The movement also looked cleaner and more elegant thanks to the manual wind. That being said, the Classique Automatique was the final winner for me: for me it embodies FP Journe design with a beautiful and clean dial, well designed with some refined details to spice it all up. Can't wait for mine !
