Cartier has just unveiled the second pre-SIHH watch, after the recently unveiled Calibre de Cartier chronograph. This is part of the Cartier d'Art line which showcases various artistic crafts, usually as part of the dial decoration. Here the dial is decorated with a panther created from tiny gold granules.
These miniscule gold balls are cut from a thread of 22k gold, then heated. Subsequently they are applied to the dial one by one, then fused to the dial base. This results in a gleaming and nuanced surface.
The case is 42 mm in yellow gold and set with 306 diamonds. Only 20 of these will be made.
