... was launched in 1995. There are not many models in the line and this "military" one is one of them. Seiko idea was to launch a series of analog watches for young people, the "digital generation". They were very simplistic in design, with high visibility in mind.
The "military" style of dial and hands fit exactly the high legibility idea and that's the idea of this model comes from. The distressed look of the case is not by years of abuse: it's actually the original finishing of this model. It receives an erratic beadblasting to look very used. Very cool, never saw anything like that.
This is a small watch to today standards: it have 35/36 mm in diameter.
One of the stars of this model is the 4S15 movement. The 4Sxx movements are actually the modern incarnation of the 52xx series of movements from the 70's. Those movements were born to be chronometers to equip the King Seiko models. They work at 28.800 bph and have fine adjustment regulator. The performance is really good.
