This past Thursday, June 18, TAG Heuer introduced its second collaboration with designer / streetwear legend, Hiroshi Fujiwaraa, of Fragment Design. In what was definitely a shocker to both the vintage Heuer and modern TAG Heuer communities, the new Formula 1 chronograph draws heavily on Autavias from the 1970s (Reference 1163 and 11063, with the Viceroy colors) and incorporates the Heuer 02 automatic movement. So the Formulaa 1 seems to have gone from the "entry level" TAG Heuer to join the top-of-the-line models of the Autavia, Carrera and Monaco.
The watch measures 44 mm across the dial, with a thickness of 14.2 mm; will be limited to 500 pieces; available toward the end of July; priced at $6,150 here in the United States.
I will be interested to hear the impressions and reactions here. I am a huge fan of the watch and can't wait to see it in the metal.
