Hi,
Just over a year ago, I started a vintage divers theme after having been infected by a famous parisian purist who has a stunning collection!...
My first catch was a UG Polerouter Sub, then I continued with a Benrus Type II, then I found an Omega SM 300.
I then made my first step into the Rolex world with a Tudor Sub 7928 which was really a good start. Here is one of the pics I posted then.

I started learning about the Rolex world and found out that the deeper you dive the more complex and fascinating and somehow dangerous it gets...
This thing can reach some abyssal depths!...so I took some time to think and take somr air before diving deeper into buying a Rolex.
In the meantime I continued evolving my collection and added a Kontiki. Below the picture I posted on HoMe last April on a 1960's divers theme.

I received great feedback on the picture and was honoured to have the HoMe masthead for a while but our dear moderator Dr Strong asked the question, where is Rolex?...
So here it is, to continue the theme, a few weeks ago, I found a 6538 BC from 1959, and made the big dive! below a picture next to the 7928

Here are some more James Bond version pictures with the infamous Nato strap and a focus on the Crown

Here it is next to the SM300

Finally, here it is in a more dressy style with a custom made aged leather calf strap

I hope you enjoyed the pictures. Thanks for reading.

Where do I start?
1) Blame the (in)famous Parisien...good start.
2) Wow...what an awesome BC. And welcome to thr Knights of the Big Crown club. That is a stunner of a watch. Congratulations. Great with the BREVET. Seriously wonderful watch. What a patina.
3) Great thema in divers. It is a fascinating area to explore for sure. Where next? Another Rolex?
Great thread.
For sure this is hell of a thema...To the question what's next, I would say I need to recharge first before I can do another dive!!!...and as for this one, you are hunting one and finding another so you never really know, but a nice FF would be my wish regarding the more vintage part, then expanding to the seventies could be a Rolex, but given the investment won't be this year!...
Matt
He He... Great catch, my friend!
How do you feel, now that you caught such a beast?
More picutres, please.
Best, and congratulations, Matt.
Nicolas.
For sure, the BC is fantastic with a spectacular gloss dial in the sun...and it is nice that it is not too much in your face as it is only 38mm; the thickness gives it a nice presence though even on my big wrist. I like them all, it is also nice to enjoy simpler things like the Kontiki for example which is a really nice casual wear.
Matt
You seem to have entered very dangerous waters.
Best regards,
George
Yes these waters can be very dangerous!... but if we keep things under control they are very enjoyable!
Matt
again....congratulations. It is a suuperb watch (and collection that you have).
Are you based in the Hades (sorry i mean Paris too)?
I am in Paris and I "work" v ery close to the Place Vendome!...but as I am a vintage fan that doesn't distract me much
Matt
Your collection of vintage divers is stunning!
Great achievement in such a short period of time, my friend!
I fear that soon I will follow in yours, Nicolas and several others down this road…
I just hope there are still some left for me when that day comes!
Huge congrats!

PS1. I start to worry if I ever dare to go to Paris again…
PS2. Forgive me for asking, but where is the Polaris...?
A question is indeed where is the Polaris, well I have the UG as a SC case, but would even prefer a DSA as far as JLC is, but the other big question is where is the FF!!!???
That gives me future targets, that need to be achieved over time given the rarity and the budget of these things!...you know what I am talking about!

Matt

It is indeed difficult to keep concentrated and try to build something consistent, there are so many risks of distrctions!!! thanks for your kind words.
Matt
