The new green Submariner 116610LV takes on different looks depending on the angle and lightning, ranging from almost black to light green. It is far more attractive in the metal than in photos. In pictures it looks flat while in reality is has a nuanced personality.

I tried one of these a month or so back when the Hour Glass had their roadshow.
Apart from looking much chunkier (almost clumsy? less elegant?) the new big case definitely narrows the bracelet.
I actually don't mind the case-to-bracelet ratio and the micro-adjustment is good....In any case, I much prefer yours!

....but it ain't no gecko! In bright light it can almost wash out, and looks a bit like an algae bloom in the James River. At night, it takes on a whole other persona, as it becomes more of an oak green. Note I do not own one, but a good pal does, and I get to ogle it pretty often. My 50th college reunion is coming up in a few years, and since our school colors are New Hampshire oak green/white, I thought this might make a light impression of reasonable worldly success to my old college chums who still have a sense of humor, or incur the wrath of watch fascists who have had their sense of humor surgically removed.
And yes, I like it. But 4$$ figures cannot be a whimsy purchase unless one is in the Gordon Gecko (sp?) entourage, so this thing had better grow on me in time - the good news is that I have plenty of that to make the call, God willing and the creek don't rise, as we say here in ol Virginny.
RR.
P.S. Algae, oak leaves, Gecko - are my pallette metaphors completely out ofcontrol?
Before judging it.
I remember very well the first reactions when the green bezel was released, at the end of 2003...
A lot of people was shocked... And a bit later ... Convinced.
So, I will reserve any formal judgement, here, before seeing the frog in the flesh.
The rest is not a surprise: The Maxi dial of the Green bezel, the bigger volumes, already seen on the 116 710, and the ( too ) narrow bracelet.
Best,
Nicolas
