the forgotten iconic day-date model (ref 1803) because of its size. nevertheless, a opportunity for me to cherry-pick amid the aplenty stocks at the dealers,for condition and interesting details on dial.

i was first taken by the colour of the oxidised gold that comes between a yellow and a rose which wears well with a dark chocolate strap as a casual weekend watch. the purchase was possibly influenced with the impression of how it wears on marc jacob in some magazine with the rolex president as a fashion item. however, a bracelet would be too strong for my liking and most bracelets i come across are already worn and loose. this first watch was chosen because of its non-tritium dial and markers but mis-printed as a t-dial.

after wearing the yellow, i found its superlative chronometric properties despite its 40 years of age and its value for the dollar very appealing, making me wanting more, knowing i can pick and choose a watch in a condition and style i want. coincidentally, the white gold crossed my path with thick baton hands and markers on the dial. and that was the story of the second. suprisingly, the white gold looks a tad smaller to me, but measured exactly the same. and with the oxidation of time, the white obtained yellowish patina.

the colour of gold on the watch told by the minus and double dot of the crown.

the 2 awaiting for the 3rd charlie's angel in brunette (rose gold), possibly with a black dial for a difference.

btw thanks for sharing and great photos! me too have a three (3) day date (18KYG, 18KPG & 18KWG.. i know i need to add a plat to complete me collection) and they do not get any wrist time and yes shame on me.

spanish translation : acero=steel, oro amarillo=yellow gold, oro blanco=white gold, plat=platinum

by the way, could u share some pics of your 3 day-dates as i am curious of the different dials existent for the ref.1803.

I share your passion for this DD´s - also have a WG on WG-strap and a YG on a brown strap (hermes leather color).

I love the WG for the night and the YG during the day - especially on weekends as you say ...

It´s a watch from a different time - for my feeling for the 80´s - where elegance was more important compared to look like a super-sportsman ...

afterall with so many supporters here.   anyway i share yr interests in these watches for their 70s to 80s way, they are still relevant  as seen in the current daytona, those inlaid thick baton hands and dial with applied rolex crown are still used. from the Day-Dates i chose from, many were in pristine condition given ther age of 40. the reason is possibly that they were relatively expensive when marketed at their time and are dress watches, so owners took more care of their watches, their condition made it desirable for me to collect.

i will share the " before" and " after" makeover look once i get them done .
