Rolex

I know it is forum policy not to talk about value or evaluation of watches, however would someone here be able to direct me to an expert in vintage Rolex evaluation (or react to me in a personal message)?

I received a I.1954 ref. 6202 (signed on case and inside case back) Rolex Turn-O-Graph (serial nr. 952xxx, movement nr. 742xx). It's fitted with an Rolex service dial and hands, as well as a new crown (all done at Rolex in the seventies) in an absolute cosmetic and technical excelent condition, however without bracelet, and need to evaluate it.

My personal knowledge is not sufficient, specially concerning the influence of the service dial.

and you will probably find similar watches offered around the world.

The recent auction results of Sothebys or Antiquorum may help.

The replacement dial has a large impact on the value.

I did try that, however couldn't find serious results. The variations are hugh - between 6000 and 16000 US$...

these prices probably correspond to watches with refinished dials and to examples with original swiss dials (maybe even honeycomb dials).

Yours is somewhere in between.

When you buy a certain kind of vintage Rolex watches, you basically buy a dial !

after seeing the watch now on photo only thing that different in my reaction is the fact that you have an interesting hours hand.
It's longer then usual and whe see those on early '54's 6200, 6536 and 6350 ....I could need a pair of those hands, let me know.

here in 'original' condition...

it a corrosion of this early, high Radium dial, no human hands thoughed it, it's like it is, early first 6204 with honeycomb dial...
