Too Dressy for a Casual Guy?
The most I dress up is for business casual office days a couple times a month. But the majority of days are WFH. Outside of that, I’m a very casual wardrobe. Regarding this 36 mm Rolex DJ 116234 with WG fluted bezel, and casual sportyish bracelet - Are the Roman numerals too dressy for a casual guy?

From your response, I’m hearing “versatile.” The Omega AT is one piece I think of when I say that word, but I’ve owned it in the past (3 times!) so it’s time to try something different
King Harald of Norway has been wearing, on all occasions, the same steel Rolex GMT since the fifties. You can swing something similar with that awesome Datejust. 😉
Oh, and Prince William has been wearing the same Omega Seamaster 007 since Diana, his mother, gave to him as a young man. If I may say so, and saving the great differences, I’m assisting to a highfalutin wedding on Friday and I’ll wear my dear Explorer when I could wear something else to match the Hermès tie. 🤷🏻♂️😉

My, oh, my. I wish I could find a reliable trustworthy source for vintage Rolex, Omega, Patek…. Although I think that at this point I should start …
…collecting, not just accumulating. That is, going after only Explorer, or GMT or whatever in a systematic and orderly fashion. But in my limited experience buying previously owned watches has been disastrous. Thus I stick to new watches from a very old friend, an authorized dealer, who sells to me at retail and gets me some of the tough to get references. No doubt that collection of Explorer is outstanding.
I think it works perfectly for casual
situations. Besides that, break the rules as if there are none my friend. It works for me 😁.

Sometimes I break the rules, but typically follow a more conservative pattern when it comes to watches ! Hence my question 🙂
I’m going to say the Roman numerals are a bit formal for your style of casual
If casual is a sport jacket, v neck sweaters and corduroy then , no, it’s not too dressy but if we’re into the ball cap, hoodie and jeans casual then the baton indices are a better choice. I remember eyeing that exact datejust in the case when it was current, and being under its spell though never acquired it. Great watch 🙂
