Inspired by LFPTK’s post a few days ago I had to go a dig out mine. The first real watch I bought myself. Coincidentally the same as his.
The more interesting/amusing story is that the AD I bought it from put me on their Daytona list shortly after. I followed up several times, even though I moved away not long after they were my local AD. I never did get the call. I dropped into them a few years ago, just after they had lost their AD status. Had a good chat with the owner and reminded him that I was on the list for decades, we had a good laugh.
At that time I didn’t like the Sub Date or GMT because of the cyclops. I thought this was much cleaner. But of course, as a relatively new watch buyer I did need a date ! 😂
Excellent first real watch btw. Mine was an Omega Aqua Terra back in 2003. 41mm. Silver dial. Great watch but wore like a plate on my wrist with that thin bezel. It was a Gollum-esque purchase and didn’t know anything back then. I was seduced by the brown croc strap and how it went really well with the shiny silver dial. I let that one go at a 20% loss within a year and thought how cool was that that i got to keep 80% of what i paid for it :-p
Although on the thicker side, I feel it fits comfortably

Maybe it has something to do w the lug taper being slightly longer than subs of the same era. Either way, it’s a great piece and I see the pip showing some age 👌🏽
I have a small chip on the crystal (for more than 20 years) and the insert has some scratches. But the case is fairly clean. Re the hands, they should be. The watch was never serviced !
