I tried on the 11 version couple years back and, although attractive
I knew it wasn’t for me. I’m just not a gold professional model guy. Even my previous white gold Daytonas didn’t last, so no surprise this one, which is extremely glittery, didn’t leave the AD. Others have the complete opposite view so no “right” answer just mho.

In my opinion the sub your friend change for the root beer is the chance you can get a timeless sub which have many fans.
If the price is right, box and papers are fine, and not to much wear, i would say yes.
